If there
were an ideal
example
of corporate teambuilding,
it would
be an orchestra.
In an orchestra,
you have
the trumpet
section,
the rhythm
section,
the sax
section,
and the string
section
(your departments).
Each section
has to perform
together
as a unit.
The
leader needs
to be sure
each section
blends with
the other
sections
in balance,
so that
the orchestra
has “one
voice” (mission).
At times,
a soloist
is playing,
and the
orchestra
needs to
backup and
support
the soloist.
The rhythm
section
(senior
management)
is the pulse
of the orchestra,
and no matter
where in
the music
you are,
one ear
has to be
listening
to the rhythm
to stay
on track
(vision).
Corporate
Team Building
is like
an orchestra
rehearsal.
Here we
get acquainted
with each
member’s
style and
talents.
We find
the "tricky
spots" in
the music,
the places
where it
can fall
apart. By
going through
the score
together,
we (as a
group or
team), work together to make
it happen.
We rehearse
in sections
and then,
as an orchestra.
Eventually,
we hear
the musical piece
as it was
meant to
be heard.
We can feel
it coming
together.
Now, we are ready to perform. When we
are “in
the groove,”
it’s
as if the
notes play
themselves.
When
someone
says, "They
make it
look so
easy!"...
it makes
all the
rehearsals
worthwhile. A successful teambuilding event.
