Engagement

 

The degree of engagement by people, volunteers or employees is related to satisfying four components of life.

The first three are rarely addressed thoroughly, making them more noteworthy and treasured. Compensation can easily be replicated by most, making it a commodity and has the least ability to compel someone to become engaged. Yet, because compensation is the easiest to execute, it becomes the "carrot" of choice, with the least engagement to show for it. Do soldiers re-up, doctors fly to earthquake regions, scientist work 10 years on a cure, fireman rush into a burning build because of their compensation?
